Why the world knows Bogura's yogurt
In the early 1900s, the sweet-makers of Sherpur perfected a slow fermentation in porous clay pots that thickens milk into velvet. Gifted to governors and carried across borders by homesick travellers, Bogura doi became shorthand for the city itself. In 2023 it earned Geographical Indication status — a legal recognition of what every Bangladeshi already knew.
